Anxiety- a Biblical therapy-2

17 December 2011
      Anxiety is not only a behavioral phenomenon but may alter the ability of an individual. Anxiety corresponds only to high stimulation that produces a feeling of discomfort and uneasiness.

  It is also closely associated with the concept of fear, Defeat, Disappointment, Doubt, Grief, Scantiness, Lacking Direction and Intelligence, Loneliness, Fatigue and Weakness, worry etc.

  • “…..if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. Matthew 17:20
  • “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7
  • “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4
  • "What is impossible with men is possible with God." Luke 18:27
  • I can do everything through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13
  • “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6
  • If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. James 1:5
  • ... the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6
Although it's normal to feel anxious from time to time, but if we feel anxious without reason and if  worries persist and affect our day-to-day life, you may have 'generalized anxiety disorder'.

 Lift your heart in prayer and you will be relieved from anxiety .

Praise the Lord

Anxiety- a Biblical therapy-1

16 December 2011

   We are actually hard-pressed and compressed due to the external pressure on us. Consequently it ends in abrupt decisions in life due to anxiety, which causes and leads to an unpardonable mistake to regret upon later. When we sit and analysis the reasons, we can eradicate or avoid or set it right
 Most of the swift and  hasty decisions are the 'end - product' of  Anxiety-
  •     Anxiety is a multisystem response to a perceived threat or danger.  Anxiety is a unique human experience-
  • A state of uneasiness and apprehension, as about future and its  uncertainties.
  • In psychology- a feeling of dread, fear, or apprehension, often with 'no clear' justification.
 Read the following  verses for a better understanding:
  • Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
  • “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair ... 2 Corinthians 4:8
  •  “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28
  • ... those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.Isaiah 40:31
  • My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.2 Corinthians 12:9
  • “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7
Praise the Lord

Many stress-relievers exist to bring us back to normal -
-Yet the Word of God is the 'real therapy ' without ‘Side effects’.

Fruits of waiting on the Lord

15 December 2011
Waiting kills a person. Spoil the morale and the self esteem of a person. Waiting in this world for multifarious things leads to drained and fed –up mind set. We generally wait for material things- job- a change in career, family life, kids, house, car, may be physical healing, bank balance, and more. The list may be endless.

we may have our own timetable to follow  and, often persuaded to run ahead and take our own course of action, to fill-up the most urgent and important activities. Often we have more chances to go wrong and then face terrible consequences.

Bible teaches us “Be still and know that I am God’ and see the end result – you can have a rich blessings in the process.
God promises as:
 “I will go before you
   and will level the mountains
I will break down gates of bronze
   and cut through bars of iron.
 I will give you hidden treasures,
   riches stored in secret places,
so that you may know that
I am the LORD, Isaiah 45:2-3

 “My soul, wait silently for God alone,
  For my expectation is from Him. Psalms 62:5

“I waited patiently for the LORD;
   he turned to me and heard my cry. Psalms 40:1

Actually we cannot list out HIS blessings. It flows beyond our expectations.

An attempt has been made to list out the some of the major blessings we receive from waiting on God.
·          YOU are blessed.
“Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you;
   therefore he will rise up to show you compassion.
For the LORD is a God of justice.
   Blessed are all who wait for him!
Isaiah 30:18
“Blessed is the one who waits for ……. Daniel 12:12
·          You will Experience His goodness.
“The LORD is good to those who wait for Him,
      To the soul who seeks Him
. Lamentations 3:25
·         Shall not be ashamed.
 “No one who hopes in you
   will ever be put to shame,
but shame will come on those
   who are treacherous without cause. Psalms 25:3.
·         Shall renew their strength.
 “..but those who hope in the LORD
   will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
   they will run and not grow weary,
   they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31
·         Shall inherit the earth.
“For evildoers shall be cut off;
         But those who wait on the LORD,
         They shall inherit the earth.
Psalms 37:9
·         Shall be saved.
Do not say, “I’ll pay you back for this wrong!”
   Wait for the LORD, and he will avenge you.
Proverbs 20:22
·         Shall rejoice in salvation.
 Behold, this is our God;
      We have waited for Him, and He will save us.
      This is the LORD;
      We have waited for Him;
      We will be glad and rejoice in His salvation. Isaiah 25:9
“Shall receive the glorious things prepared by God for them.
Since ancient times no one has heard,
   no ear has perceived,
no eye has seen any God besides you,
   who acts on behalf of those who wait for him.
Isaiah 64:4.

You have to wait and see the endless list of blessing you can receive from your Heavenly Father.

Purposeful waiting on God

14 December 2011
We live in a different world with an ‘instant-culture’, so we don’t want to be part of waiting (always on the run) We have a hectic schedule ahead of us always and at all times. 'BUSY' THAT IS THE BUZZ WORD.

what does it mean to wait?
Waiting demands much more than patience. Obliviously it is like staying where God has planted us, living in peace, contented, and continuing to serve him as He has instructed us. we look( wait for) to him eagerly to full fill His promise and give us the strength during crisis to hold on.

It requires trust, faithfulness, and confidence to move on, when we feel like giving up.
Strange to think that waiting actually makes us move forward. But waiting means  being still and listening for his voice, keeping our mind open to His instruction.

Often we are pushed to circumstances where we grow tired and weary and we feel like quitting and giving up.

  • Transform your hearts to obey and wait
  • Trust God. Have self-control.
  • Resist the weak fleshly temptations.
  • no turning back
  • Lord is your strength and a strong tower to hide.
  • Keep your heart and soul free from evil thinking.

 Some of the personal traits for a waiting person can be seen as:

·         Wait for God with the soul.
 Truly my soul finds rest in God;
   my salvation comes from him.
Psalms 62:1
“Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
   my hope comes from him.
Psalms 62:5

·         Wait  With earnest desire.
My soul waits for the Lord
         More than those who watch for the morning—
         Yes, more than those who watch for the morning.
Psalms 130:6

·         Wait With patience.
Be still before the LORD
   and wait patiently for him;
. Psalms 37:7
I waited patiently for the LORD;
   he turned to me and heard my cry
. Psalms 40:1

·         wait With hope in His word.
I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits,
   and in his word I put my hope
. Psalms 130:5

·         wait Continually.
So you, by the help of your God, return;
      Observe mercy and justice,
      And wait on your God continually.
Hosea 12:6

·         Wait All the day.
Guide me in your truth and teach me,
   for you are God my Savior,
   and my hope is in you all day long.
Psalms 25:5
·         Wait in adversity.
Deliver me from my enemies, O God; be my fortress against those who are attacking me.  Deliver me from evildoers  and save me from those who are after my blood.See how they lie in wait for me! ….You, LORD God Almighty,
 you who are the God of Israel……
.See what they spew from their mouths—
   the words from their lips are sharp as swords,…You are my strength, I watch for you;you, God, are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely.
... Psalms 59:1-9

Waiting need a mature mind
A slightest lose of faith can tamper the purpose of waiting. Of course I am not denying the fact that waiting is a long and a blind path to walk upon.

Remember JESUS is there to hold your hand while you walk.

Praise the Lord.
God bless

He has made everything beautiful in HIS time.

Flower taken from web collections

13 December 2011
There are times in our life, everything seems to go wayward and unruly we are liable to be depressed. When we pray, we expect an instance answer to our prayers.
God does not work in the way, we want Him to be.
God usually does not tell us how and when He will answer our prayers, but one thing is sure He never comes late.
Waiting makes us feel bad at times,obviously depressed to make  a positive move ahead.

 "He has made everything beautiful in its time …” Ecclesiastes 3:1
The word ‘wait’ is like the thread in a rope. Every little thread  being added to the rope, will increase its strength.
So each time you wait on the Lord you add another thread to the rope; you get stronger and stronger, and capable to face and cope up with the crisis.

 Waiting Gives you strength, peace, courage and rest in God. The more you wait (in the Lord), more stronger person you are.

  • The Bible says, “But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
  •  “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3
  • "Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. (Psalms 27:14)
  • "Yes, my soul, find rest in God;  my hope comes from him. (Psalms 62:5)
Do not stumble in your way. wait on the Lord and renew your strength. Take  adequate care.

If we wait for the Lord, he will refresh and revive us with new energy and vigor, to soar, to run, and walk with him.

God Bless.
