Negative thinking-leads to bitterness

Negative thinking is very parallel to pessimism, which is the tendency to take the most unfavorable outlook of situations, or to expect the worst outcome in any circumstances; the practice of looking on the gloomy and dark side of things.

Positive thinking is optimism; the tendency or habit of seeing and expecting the excellent result always; looking on the bright side; geared up on a sunny side;  anticipating favorable results; hopefulness.


Giving place to negative thinking only bears bad fruit. If you give place to negative thoughts, you will become a negative person, thoughts dominate the mind and you will be shaped in that way.

•          “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he”  (Proverbs 23:7).

Sad and negative thoughts weaken our spirits and lead to discouragement.

•          “By sorrow of the heart, the spirit is broken.”( Proverbs 15:13b)

Those hearts and minds which are filled with negative thoughts usually spread them by voicing them. It is like a contagious disease, spreads and kills the person.

•     “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”( Luke 6:45)

Negative thinking is not walking in "novelty of life," but in the old nature which is against God.

•      “The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.  The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so”. Romans 8:6-7

Harboring negative, critical thoughts can lead to bitterness.  

•     “See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.” Hebrews 12:15 

"Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8

"For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

Remove negative thinking.
