The Piercing Tongue

7 August 2011
Piercing means: penetrating: cutting through, piercing remarks.
Today, people are victims of the piercing talks around them and it demands special mind-set, coupled with patience, tolerance, goodwill, calm attitude etc. to face the situation. However the mind is concerned   it has its own painful experiences, rejections, or emotional hurts that refuses healing. “There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, But the tongue of the wise promotes health.”Proverbs12:18

Another sinful tongue is the piercing tongue. Some people have a sharp piercing tongue which Satan uses to offend and insult others. We live in a society absorbed with its own feelings. They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim cruel words like deadly arrows. They shoot from ambush at the innocent; they shoot suddenly, without fear”. Psalm 64:3-4

Sharp and piercing tongue will inflict its intended wounds. Envious and resentful words are bitter and are pointed and sharp, but their target is obvious. On the surface, they may even sound scrupulous but in reality, they manipulate their thoughts to overthrow others.

“See what they spew from their mouths the words from their lips are sharp as swords, and they think, “Who can hear us?” Psalm 59:7

Are you using your words to assist to build others  or used  to burn others? If we build our position by burning another person, we are standing on a platform of ashes that will crumble and topple us anytime. Beware  if you point others with one finger, you have forgotten that rest of the  fingers pointed towards you. “They make their tongues as sharp as a serpent’s; the poison of vipers is on their lips.”

The Bible commands Christians to talk  with Graceful words,Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” Colossians 4:6 .No need to train yourself for personality development. BUT READ YOUR Bible and learn how to move. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” Psalm 32:8

We live in a society absorbed with its own feelings, mostly relying on the materialistic and for a selfish hunt. People who use their tongue causly like a sword to pierce their friends or close relatives. I am in the midst of lions;I am forced to dwell among ravenous beasts—men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords. Psalm 57:4
Today, people are afflicted to their own painful experiences, rejections, mistakes or emotional hurts is one that refuses healing. Bible teaches  and commands us to be wise. “…encourage the young men to be self-controlled. In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us”.Titus 2:8

Use graceful and more refined language which cannot  or should not  be evil or else do you possess a piercing tongue? It is very hard to find such hurts outwardly but  we read about the piercing tongue in the Bible as“His talk is smooth as butter, yet war is in his heart; his words are more soothing than oil, yet they are drawn swords.” Psalm57:4

Every Christian's prayer should be, "Lord, make my words gracious and tender, for I may not be a trap to others. Keep me safe, LORD, from the hands of the wicked; protect me from the violent, who devise ways to trip my feet”. Psalm 140:3-4.So learn to Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let  the righteous be shaken. Psalm 55:21-22

Always keep in mind-- “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

So the piercing evil tongue and its impact has no effect on a child of God ‘cause they carry with them the “WORD OF GOD"

Be bold and stand firm so that you may not be tossed by evil planners.“And He has made My mouth like a sharp sword; In the shadow of His hand He has hidden Me, And made Me a polished shaft; In His quiver He has hidden Me. And He said to me,You are My servant, ……. In whom I will be glorified.’ Isaiah 49:4
