The Talkative or overused Tongue

13-august 2011
   Overused means: Given to much talking. -To use in  excess
            Those who have ‘uncontrolled tongue” are intended to use their tongue which lacks discretion and expressed unwisely. In common conversation a fool is known by multitude of word.  A person’s talk has an huge influence on his/ her character, which reflects the hidden motives. Babbler are intended to experience trouble in their life and they will not find it easy to obtain God’s help for their problems. Rather they carry it here and there  talking too much  with deceitful way and they mess-up the matters at the end

            Satan takes advantage of those whose mouths which are undisciplined, uncontrolled and used wickedly.So“Whoever guards his mouth and tongue Keeps his soul from troubles”(Proverbs.21:23).Some people sin by simply overusing their tongue. Ecclesiastes 5:3 says that "a fool's voice is known by multitude of words." Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues”(Proverbs10-19). “For in the multitude of dreams and many words there is also vanity. But fear God”. Ecclesiastes 5:7

       People think they appear to be smart by much talking, but the Bible tells  just the reverse, Ecclesiastes 5:2 says, “Do not be rash with your mouth, And let not your heart utter anything hastily before God. For God is in heaven, and you on earth; Therefore let your words be few. For a dream comes through much activity, and a fool’s voice is known by his many words.”

         God does not like a blabber’s mouth. You may confirm saying, "Well, I am the way I am!" Stop justifying your wickedness and babbling tendency and ask God to help you. People think they appear smart by much talking, but the Bible states the very opposite. Much talk, much problems; less talk, less problems! Much dreaming and many words are meaningless. Therefore fear God.”Ecclesiastes 5:6-8
 Bible states these verses regarding the talkative tongue and its effects.
“The mouths of fools are their undoing, and their lips are a snare to their very lives…..From the fruit of their mouth a person’s stomach is filled; with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied.” Proverbs 10:6,7.20
“The more the words, the less the meaning ,and how does that profit anyone?”Ecclesiastes 5:10-8
“Words from the mouth of the wise are gracious, but fools are consumed by their own lips. At the beginning their words are folly; at the end they are wicked madness—and fools multiply words.” Ecclesiastes 10:12-14
.
 “Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues.” Proverbs 10:18-20
“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit”. Proverbs 18:21
“Would they argue with useless words, with speeches that have no value?...Your sin prompts your mouth; you adopt the tongue of the crafty. Your own mouth condemns you, not mine; your own lips testify against you.”Job 15:3-6
       JESUS warned that our words are so important that it will actually determine our condemnation or validation, for we will be responsible for all our words, even our careless, idle words. “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned” (Mathew12:36-37).
        You should not sallow corrupt or worthless talk to come from our mouth. “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers” (Eph. 4:29).
“Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips. Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, to practice wicked works With men who work iniquity; Paslm141:3
Obscenities, profanity, cursing, dirty jokes, or making fun of others is not something that should ever be found in the mouth of a believer.Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving” (Ephesians. 5:4).
“Evildoers are trapped by their sinful talk,  …...” Proverbs 12:13-14 “You have been trapped by what you said, ensnared by the words of your mouth.” Proverbs 6:2”
“Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.” Ephesians 5; 5-7
         We have experienced problems and hardship, trails etc or we may fail to get answers for our prayers, because of our mouth sins often. Using their tongue to ridicule, to gossip, or to slander etc. it is a sin.sin cuts- off the flow of God’s answers to the prayers. “If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear” (Psalm 66:18).
“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21
         Take the warning as per the Bible verses:
“Shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. And their message will spread like cancer”. 2 Timothy 2:16.
 “Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.

 Do not incline my heart to any evil thing ,to practice wicked works
 With men who work iniquity;..” Psalm 141:3

                “…guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge,...” 1 Timothy 6:20

….guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

     Keep your mouth free of perversity;

     keep corrupt talk far from your lips.

     Let your eyes look straight ahead;

      fix your gaze directly before you

      Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and

      be steadfast in all your ways.

      Do not turn to the right or the left;
